Third-Generation Changan UNI-V Revealed: New Front-End Design, Semi-Hidden Door Handles, and 245 HP

In May, Changan Auto recorded impressive sales of 224,310 units, marking a 9% year-over-year growth. To build on this success, the third-generation Changan UNI-V is set to make its debut with significant updates to its exterior, interior, and powertrain. Recently, spy shots of the vehicle surfaced online, hinting that its official launch might be just around the corner. Here's what we know so far.

Striking Exterior Updates
Based on the spy shots, the third-generation UNI-V boasts a more aggressive and aerodynamic front-end design. The closed front grille sits lower, flanked by sharp, upward-sloping "L"-shaped headlights that exude a bold, sporty vibe. The front bumper features a redesigned trapezoidal lower grille with exaggerated sporty accents, including blacked-out "fang-like" trim pieces and integrated aerodynamic elements. The sport variant adds orange accents for a more dynamic look.

The side profile retains its fastback silhouette but introduces new 19-inch blacked-out wheels paired with orange brake calipers and an electric rear spoiler. The rear design also receives a makeover, with sporty enhancements such as a diffuser and dual-round exhaust outlets. The sport variant ups the ante with quad-round exhausts, orange highlights, and aggressive styling elements. Other noteworthy updates include semi-hidden door handles, a striking full-width LED taillight, and an illuminated logo, adding a touch of modern sophistication.

High-Tech and Luxurious Interior
Official interior images reveal a minimalist dashboard design accented with a larger floating touchscreen and rectangular fully digital instrument cluster. The cabin is enhanced with 256-color ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging, a panoramic sunroof, and an 18-speaker premium audio system, creating a luxurious and tech-forward atmosphere.
Premium materials such as suede and carbon fiber trim adorn the interior, aligning with the sporty exterior. Features include a new flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel with "SUPER RACE 3.0" buttons, paddle shifters, a blade-style gear selector, and integrated sports seats, further emphasizing its performance-oriented appeal.

Engine Options and Performance
According to certification data, the third-generation UNI-V will continue to offer 1.5T and 2.0T engine options. The 1.5T engine delivers 141 kW (192 HP), unchanged from the current model, while the 2.0T engine has been upgraded to 180 kW (245 HP), an improvement over the 171 kW output of the previous version. Transmission options include a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox for the 1.5T engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission for the 2.0T engine.
