The Ultimate Duo: Chinese High-End Electric Off-Road SUVs Captivate the Elite with Starting Price of $152,941

On April 23, 2025, the Shanghai Auto Show witnessed the debut of two groundbreaking luxury electric off-road vehicles from Dongfeng's premium sub-brand, Mengshi. The brand unveiled the Lorinser M900 Star Cruiser and the Jialong Armor Extended Edition—limited-edition models priced at $179,386 and $152,941, respectively. With a global production cap of 66 and 199 units, these vehicles embody the philosophy of "one car, one price, one unique ride," redefining the benchmark for high-end electric off-road luxury.

The Lorinser M900 Star Cruiser blends futuristic technology with Eastern aesthetics. Its mech-inspired design features a "Starry Blue" gradient paint that shifts dynamically from blue to dark hues depending on light angles, thanks to a special optical coating. A 3.2-meter elevated roof incorporates a dual-mode spotlight system with 2000-lumen brightness for both functionality and striking visual impact. The cabin employs a "2+2" Gulfstream layout with zero-gravity aviation seats equipped with 16-way electric adjustment and adaptive pressure sensing. With 245mm of extended knee space, it offers an airplane-grade seating experience. Interior highlights include deep-sea mother-of-pearl panels crafted using traditional Chinese shell inlay techniques, boasting 0.08mm precision and over 30 steps of craftsmanship, complemented by a panoramic LED starlight ceiling featuring 1,818 individual lights for an immersive space capsule atmosphere.

The Jialong Armor Extended Edition exemplifies the ultimate expression of Eastern power aesthetics. It features a cascading "Dragon Teeth" grille paired with carbon fiber wheel arches for striking visual appeal. Aerodynamic components optimized through fluid dynamics reduce drag by 12% compared to the standard version. The interior boasts Italian Pasubio semi-aniline leather seats crafted from Nordic cold-region cowhide, processed through 20 meticulous handcrafting steps for a velvet-like touch. With a 95% leather coverage rate, the cabin sets a new benchmark in the industry. Buyers can further personalize their interiors with extensions made from the original leather materials and natural gemstones like turquoise and lapis lazuli, creating a bespoke luxury identity.

Both vehicles are built on the extended wheelbase version of the Mengshi 917 platform and feature a tri-motor range-extended hybrid powertrain. This setup delivers a staggering 600kW of power and 12,938Nm of wheel-side torque. The off-road mode control system allows terrain mode switching in just 0.2 seconds, while rear-wheel steer-by-wire technology reduces the minimum turning radius to 11.2 meters. Safety features include military-grade protection standards, with 85% high-strength body materials and a 19-layer battery protection structure, paired with an ASIL-D level electronic control system to offer comprehensive safety.

Additionally, Dongfeng Mengshi introduced a "Pinnacle Customization" service system, offering millimeter-level bespoke solutions developed by a cross-disciplinary design team. Options include 136 leather texture variations and Pantone's full spectrum of stitching colors. Buyers will also receive a complimentary $11,140 two-person extreme adventure package, elevating the product's value from mechanical performance to lifestyle enhancement. The launch of these flagship models not only showcases Chinese innovation in the high-end customization market but also establishes a new global benchmark in electric off-road vehicles by merging technology with cultural heritage.
