On June 20, 2025, FAW-Audi officially announced the pre-sale of its new A5L lineup, which includes four variants: the FAW-Audi A5L All-Terrain Hybrid quattro, FAW-Audi A5L Navigator, FAW-Audi A5L Sport quattro, and FAW-Audi A5L Sport Plus. The Navigator and Sport versions are now available for pre-order, targeting diverse needs in powertrain and chassis tuning. Positioned as a next-generation luxury sedan, the A5L promises to lead the era of intelligent luxury fuel vehicles.
As the first model based on Audi's new PPC Intelligent Luxury Fuel Platform, the FAW-Audi A5L inherits 53 years of Audi’s B-segment expertise and design DNA. The A5L boasts a sleek and dynamic design, with a length of 4908 mm and a wheelbase of 2969 mm—77 mm longer than the European A5. Compared to rivals like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the A5L offers superior dimensions while maintaining a sporty and proportionate appearance.
Highlights include semi-concealed door handles and Audi's latest illuminated logo at the front, enhancing both aesthetics and practicality. The car also offers an array of vibrant colors, including Qingcheng Green and Danxia Brown, exclusive to the Chinese market.
Next-Generation Lighting
The A5L comes standard with Matrix LED headlights offering eight lighting signatures and dynamic turn signals. Optional OLED taillights feature 364 OLED panels, Car2X communication capabilities, and eight customizable designs that synchronize with the headlights.
Luxurious Interior
The interior mirrors the recently launched Q6L e-tron, with a dual OLED curved display (11.9-inch and 14.5-inch), a 10.9-inch MMI passenger screen, and four sophisticated color themes: Amber Red, Moonlight Silver, Pearl Beige, and Midnight Black. The car also features a customizable ambient lighting system, including a nine-zone adjustable smart sunroof and a starlight headliner with 102 LEDs for a galaxy-like effect.
Advanced Infotainment
The A5L offers extensive app compatibility, covering scenarios such as mobile offices, in-car karaoke, and gaming. The voice assistant is highly responsive, capable of executing up to 10 consecutive commands with a wake-up time of just 200 ms. Personalized voice profiles and avatars further enhance the user experience.
Spacious Cabin
With a wheelbase of 2969 mm, the A5L provides ample rear legroom. The smart sunroof allows for individual transparency adjustments for front and rear passengers, while the starlight headliner creates a visually immersive environment. Additionally, the roof’s triple silver-coating technology achieves an infrared reflection rate of 99.5%, ensuring excellent insulation.
Efficient Powertrain
The A5L is powered by Audi's fifth-generation EA888 engine, featuring VTG variable geometry turbocharging. It produces 200 kW of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque, with an official fuel consumption of 6.4 L/100 km. A dual-motor hybrid system (P0+P3 configuration) supports all-electric driving, ensuring smooth operation in urban traffic while maximizing fuel efficiency.
Comprehensive Driver Assistance
Co-developed with Huawei, the A5L’s advanced driver assistance system is tailored for Chinese road conditions. It features a robust hardware suite, including two LiDAR units, six radar sensors, 13 HD cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, with heated and self-cleaning LiDAR units for optimal performance.
