On June 18, the 2026 Leapmotor C16 officially debuted, offering eight variants with prices ranging from $21,140 to $25,325. Leapmotor announced significant upgrades across over 70 features, including comfort, range, intelligence, and design. Notably, the new lineup includes a 5-seat version and standard laser radar across all models. The range-extended version features a 38.7 kWh battery delivering 280 km (174 miles) of pure electric range and a combined range of 1,150 km (715 miles) on the CLTC cycle. Meanwhile, the all-electric version offers an improved range of 630 km (391 miles).

Key Highlights:

The rear design features a wide rear windshield, wraparound taillights, and sculpted bumper lines, delivering a bold and premium aesthetic. The vehicle measures 4,915 mm (193.5 inches) in length, 1,905 mm (75 inches) in width, and 1,770 mm (69.7 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm (111.2 inches). Exterior color options include Metallic Black, Sky Gray, Star Silver (new), Pearl White, Cosmic Purple, and Emerald Green, while the interior comes in hues like Sunset Orange and Starlight Purple. The C16 rides on 21-inch wheels.

The interior focuses on practicality and luxury, featuring a 14.6-inch 2.5K floating infotainment screen. The 5-seat version enhances rear seat space while retaining the 6-seat configuration option. New upgrades include Nappa leather seats with lumbar support for the driver, massage functionality for both rows, an 8.1L cylindrical refrigerator, and expanded storage options like a new rear center armrest box with a capacity increase from 6.4L to 9.4L. Additionally, the car now supports 50W wireless phone charging. Other tech updates include the Leap 4.0Plus system, an upgraded PSS premium audio system, new app integrations, 3D vehicle modeling, and voice control enhancements.

The 5-seat version introduces diamond-pattern seats with 140-degree reclining rear seats, a long sliding track with 500 mm (19.7 inches) of travel, and flexibility for optimizing space. The cargo area offers up to 1,663 liters (58.7 cubic feet) of storage when the rear seats are folded. In standard configuration, the trunk provides 692 liters (24.4 cubic feet), fitting up to nine 20-inch suitcases or five 24-inch suitcases. Additional storage includes 32L for the range-extended version and 50L for the all-electric version, ideal for sports gear or shoes.

Advanced smart cabin and driver assistance features include standard 128-line laser radar, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650 chip for advanced driver-assistance systems, and a memory parking function. Other features include front and rear FSD adaptive dampers, a One Box braking system, and an LMC integrated motion control chassis with stability control even during high-speed tire blowouts at 120 km/h (75 mph).

Under the hood, the range-extended version continues to use a 1.5L range extender, delivering a combined output of 170 kW (228 hp) and maximum torque of 320 Nm (236 lb-ft). The pure electric range increases to 280 km (174 miles), while the total range reaches 1,150 km (715 miles). Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes just 19 minutes. The all-electric version is equipped with an 800V silicon carbide fast-charging platform, boosting range from 520/580 km (323/360 miles) to 630 km (391 miles). Electric motor power is increased to 220 kW (295 hp) with a maximum torque of 360 Nm (266 lb-ft).
