Official Release: Corvette ZR1X with 1,250 Horsepower and AWD

Chevrolet has officially unveiled the Corvette ZR1X, the flagship performance model of the C8 series. Powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged LT7 V8 engine paired with a front-axle electric motor, the ZR1X delivers a staggering combined output of 1,250 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.2 seconds, achieve a top speed exceeding 230 mph (370 km/h), and complete the quarter-mile sprint in 9 seconds with a trap speed over 149 mph (240 km/h). The ZR1X is set for unlimited production, with Chevrolet aiming to sell as many units as possible. The model is expected to launch in late 2025 with a starting price of over $200,000.
Design and Features
The exterior design of the ZR1X stays true to its ZR1 lineage, featuring aggressive styling elements. The base model comes equipped with a dramatic front splitter and a vented hood. On the sides, the vehicle showcases large Y-shaped cooling vents, while rear fender vents are enlarged for enhanced airflow. At the rear, a traditional ducktail spoiler provides aerodynamic support.
ZTK Performance Package
The ZR1X also offers the optional ZTK Performance Package, upgrading the Michelin PS4S tires to CUP 2R versions and adding stiffer suspension springs, reinforced anti-roll bars, and a carbon fiber aerodynamic kit. This kit contributes an additional 544 kilograms (1,200 pounds) of downforce, enhancing high-speed stability and handling.
Powertrain Highlights
At the heart of the ZR1X is the LT7 small-block V8 engine, featuring a flat-plane crankshaft and dry-sump lubrication. Displacing 5.5 liters and equipped with twin turbochargers, the engine produces 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft (1,123 Nm) of torque at 6,000 rpm. The turbochargers utilize optimized 76mm intake ports and a unique "maniturbo" design that integrates the exhaust manifold with the turbo housing. This setup minimizes turbo lag and improves throttle response. Additionally, the system incorporates dynamic anti-lag technology, which maintains turbo rotational speed during off-throttle moments for instant power delivery.
The ZR1X also features a single front-axle electric motor, a configuration derived from the E-Ray model. This motor provides 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft (197 Nm) of torque, powered by a 1.9 kWh battery pack. The inclusion of the electric motor transforms the ZR1X into an all-wheel-drive vehicle. The front motor disconnects at speeds above 160 mph (258 km/h), ensuring rear-wheel-drive dominance for high-speed performance.
The entire hybrid system (non-plug-in) delivers a combined output of 1,250 horsepower and is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The ZR1X accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.2 seconds and completes the quarter-mile in 9 seconds, with a top speed of 233 mph (375 km/h).
Chassis and Driving Modes
Chevrolet has equipped the ZR1X with advanced energy management and eAWD chassis control systems. The endurance mode adjusts battery strategies for prolonged performance, while the qualifying mode optimizes power delivery for the fastest lap times. Push-to-Pass functionality allows drivers to access maximum available power on demand. The PTM Pro mode disables traction and stability control, handing full control to the driver for a pure driving experience.
Braking System
The ZR1X comes standard with the J59 braking system, which offers exceptional heat resistance and braking response. The system includes Alcon 10-piston calipers at the front and 6-piston calipers at the rear, paired with 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic brake discs. The braking setup delivers a deceleration force of up to 1.9G.
Interior Updates
The ZR1X's interior receives a significant upgrade, mirroring the design improvements seen in all 2026 Corvette models. A larger, uninterrupted display spans the dashboard, complemented by a 6.6-inch auxiliary screen on the driver’s side. The waterfall-style control panel is replaced by a more streamlined layout, with climate controls relocated beneath the main display. Additionally, the drive mode selector has been redesigned for improved ergonomics.
The ZR1X will be available in coupe and convertible body styles, manufactured at GM's Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky. Sales are scheduled to begin by late 2025.
